Kameoka

Kameoka is a small city separated from Kyoto by the western Arashiyama mountain range. For centuries Kameoka was regarded as Kyoto's food bowl and agriculture is still a major industry here. A lot of Kameoka and the wider Tamba region's prate highly regarded especially black soy beans, beef and in winter, wild boar.

Kameoka is also an old castle town with the castle ruins in the heart of the town.
